The mission of the Department of Pesticide Regulation is to protect human health and the environment by regulating pesticide sales and use, and by fostering reduced-risk pest management.
The Department of Pesticide Regulation protects water resources through their Chemigation Initiative (applying pesticide during irrigation), Dormant Spray Water Quality Initiative, Groundwater Protection Program, and Surface Water Protection Program. The Department also has an endangered species project that aims to protect endangered species, including salmon, from pesticides.
