NOTICE: Independent Scientific Peer Review Panel Meeting: USBR’s Water Temperature Modeling Platform (WTMP)

From the Delta Stewardship Council:

Temperature management is a key parameter for the protection of species with specific cold-water needs and is one of the most complex subjects related to Central Valley Project (CVP) operations. This topic impacts the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta as several significant species, such as Chinook salmon, depend on cold water flows.

At the request of the Bureau of Reclamation, the Delta Science Program has begun to facilitate an independent review panel focused on the implementation of Reclamation’s Water Temperature Modeling Platform (WTMP) and the effectiveness of its modeling.

The Delta Science Program will convene part one of this review with a July 19-20, 2022, meeting for panel members to evaluate the WTMP for the Shasta/Keswick/Sacramento River and reservoirs system. Findings and recommendations from this review will be integrated into the WTMP for the CVP.
