FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program (SALC) Draft Guidelines Now Available for Public Comment

Online Public Comment Workshops March 9th and March 10th

The California Strategic Growth Council and the Department of Conservation(DOC) are pleased to announce the release of the 2021-2022 Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program (SALC) Draft Guidelines. 

DOC will host a series of online workshops to share program information and to solicit public input.

About the Program: The SALC Program supports agricultural land conservation, economic growth, and sustainable development by providing grants for three types of projects:

  • Planning grants that support the development of local and regional land use policies and economic development strategies to protect critical agricultural land.
  • Agricultural Conservation Acquisition grants to permanently protect croplands and rangelands that are at-risk of conversion to residential and rural residential development.
  • Capacity and Project Development grants to expand organizational capacity to develop agricultural conservation acquisition projects.
