NOTICE: State Water Board Holds CEQA Scoping Meeting on Hexavalent Chromium in Drinking Water

From the State Water Board:

The State Water Board is holding a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) public scoping meeting on Nov. 29 on a hexavalent chromium Maximum Containment Level (MCL) regulation. Written or oral comments from the public and other interested persons will be heard at the meeting concerning the type and extent of environmental impacts, range of alternatives, and mitigation measures that should be analyzed in an Environmental Impact Report.

The project is a statewide regulation that would apply to all public drinking water systems in the State of California. Water systems with hexavalent chromium exceeding potential MCL concentrations are located throughout the state and specific locations are not currently known.

The CEQA scoping meeting will be held virtually via Zoom on Monday, November 29, 2021, from 3:00 – 4:30 pm. Members of the public can email comments to: ddw-hexavalentchromium@waterboards.ca.gov.

Written comments can be sent via mail to Jeanine Townsend, Clerk to the Board, State Water Resources Control Board, P.O. Box 100, Sacramento, CA 95812-2000

If you have questions concerning the meeting or would like to make a request for reasonable accommodations for a disability, please contact Kim Niemeyer by email at ddw-hexavalentchromium@waterboards.ca.gov.
