NOTICE: Applications close Dec. 6, 2021 for drinking water debt relief program

From the State Water Board:

The COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for many Californians to pay their bills due to job loss and other hardships. The State Water Board is administering the California Water and Wastewater Arrearage Payment Program to provide water systems with financial relief for unpaid water bill debt from their residential and commercial customers. More information about the program and water systems that have applied so far can be found at: bit.ly/CWWAPP 

The Drinking Water Arrearage Application deadline is only 10 working days away. The Application must be submitted by December 6, 2021 at 5pm. Community water systems can access the application through the electronic Annual Report (EAR) portal: https://ear.waterboards.ca.gov/.   

Any interested parties can visit the program page to find a list of water systems along with their program application status and contact information. We encourage you to reach out to your water system and ask them to apply if they haven’t already!
 
Community water systems that missed the original arrearages survey deadline or declined participation are still eligible for the program. They should first complete the Abbreviated Survey through our EAR portal https://ear.waterboards.ca.gov/. Once the Abbreviated Survey is submitted, the Arrearage Team will review it and open the application up for the water systems. Both the Abbreviated Survey and the Application must be submitted by December 6, 2021.  

The Arrearages Team will be reviewing completed applications and processing payments as they are received.
