Dear CWEMF Members & Friends,

The California Water and Environmental Modeling Forum’s (CWEMF) Ad Hoc Modeling Protocols Committee (Committee) requests your participation in a two-hour workshop to elicit your suggestions for revisions to the CWEMF document “Protocols for Water and Environmental Modeling.” This document, originally published in 2000, has been completely revised at the direction of the Committee over 2020-2021.  The revised draft report is attached to this invitation.

CWEMF believes that acceptance and implementation of modeling protocols by California’s water community results in better models and modeling studies by:

  • Improving the development of models;
  • Providing better documentation of models and modeling studies;
  • Providing easier professional and public access to models and modeling studies;
  • Making models and modeling studies more easily understood and amendable to examination; and
  • Increasing stakeholder, decision-maker, and technical staff confidence in models and modeling studies.

At this meeting we will provide an overview of the new report and solicit high level feedback.  You may also provide written comments over the next four weeks, by June 30, 2021.  We thank you for making time to participate in this review and support CWEMF’s goals of more robust environmental modeling for California.  See details below for the Microsoft Teams meeting.

Sincerely,

Paul
