From the San Joaquin River Restoration Program:
The Bureau of Reclamation has reduced flows from Friant Dam within the San Joaquin River Restoration Area. The lower flow began at 0700, January 15, 2021 and may continue at this level through late February. Flows from Friant Dam will be in the range of 280-380 cfs resulting in approximately 185 cfs at Gravelly Ford. The duration of the lower flows depends on the unfolding hydrology and weather within the watershed.
Increasingly dry conditions have the potential to reduce the water available to the San Joaquin River Restoration Program in 2021. Efforts are being taken to conserve water in January and February for release in March to benefit spring-run Chinook salmon populations. The San Joaquin River Restoration Program is closely monitoring a cohort of juvenile spring-run Chinook Salmon in the river below Friant Dam as flows are reduced.
A more complete flow schedule for February 2021 and the remainder of the year will be available to the public in early February.
