From the State Water Board:
On December 30, 2020, the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) Executive Director issued Interim Order WQ 2020-0041-EXEC (Order) for the McCloud-Pit Hydroelectric Project (Project; Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Project No. 2106). The Order was issued in response to the petitions for reconsideration of the Project water quality certification filed by the Winnemem Wintu Tribe and the Pacific Gas and Electric Company on December 6, 2019.
The Order directs State Water Board staff to reinitiate consultation with California Native American tribes traditionally and culturally affiliated with the Project area to inform a supplemental CEQA review. Additionally, the Order clarifies that the petitions for reconsideration submitted by the Winnemem Wintu Tribe and Pacific Gas and Electric Company for the Project’s water quality certification will remain pending until any consultation is completed.
The Order is available on the State Water Board’s water quality orders webpage (https://www.waterboards.ca.gov/board_decisions/adopted_orders/water_quality/wqo20.html).
