From the Water Data Challenge Organizing Team:
Thank you to all who joined live or watched the recordings for the AB 1755 Online Public Meeting and Reception June 26, launching the California Water Data Consortium — and the 5th Annual Water Data Science Symposium June 29-30. Especially as we are navigating new constraints on how we connect with each other, pivoting traditionally in-person activities to all-virtual — we appreciate your continued commitment and collaborative spirit. We hope you enjoyed seeing your projects and teams featured at these events with (record-breaking) hundreds of participants!
Building on this momentum, at the open-to-all Aug 18-19 Datathon hosted by our partners the California Data Collaborative and SustainSoCal, we will be sharing more details about the Water Data Challenge 2020. Notably, the Challenge Questions have been refreshed with new opportunities for COVID-19 and Streamlining Data Workflows awards. And, we will be providing additional online mentorship and activities towards a Challenge project deadline of Dec. 1, 2020 to be eligible for awards.
We invite you to join the sessions for team formation, mentoring, and opportunities to hear from Water Data Challenge alumni about continued work and impact. In addition to the 4 hour sprints each day, we’ll be on the Slack Channel and are excited to feature mentors from California, New Mexico, and more!
As a special thank you to the teams forming and working together on projects August 18-19, datathon participants will receive free admission to the 5th Annual CA Water Data Summit featuring a keynote from California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, a panel with the new California Water Data Consortium, and many more sessions focused on Solutions for Water Resiliency.
