WATER STORAGE INVESTMENT PROGRAM: Applicants, state agencies to discuss the administration of public benefits

From the California Water Commission:

The California Water Commission conditionally awarded nearly $2.7 billion in Proposition 1 funding in July 2018 for eight new water storage projects through the Water Storage Investment Program. As a next step, the Commission has scheduled orientation meetings in February for project applicants to meet with state agencies that will administer the public benefits of each project funded through the program.

These meetings are intended to orient applicants on the process involved in developing contracts for the administration of public benefits. Applicants will gain a common understanding of the roles and responsibilities during the development of contracts for the administration of public benefits, learn the type of information they will need to provide throughout the process, and share project schedule information to help inform agencies of intended progress.

Public benefits as defined by Proposition 1 include ecosystem improvements, water quality improvements, flood control benefits, emergency response, and recreational benefits. The state agencies that will administer these public benefits are the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, State Water Resources Control Board and the Department of Water Resources.

Applicants have confirmed their participation for the following dates:
