MORNING NEWS FLASH … Governor Brown, Gavin Newsom send letter to State Water Board, asking them to postpone today’s vote

Governor Jerry Brown and Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom have sent a letter asking the State Water Board to postpone voting on the proposal to increase flows on the San Joaquin tributaries until December 12, 2018.  The vote is scheduled for today.

For many months, state agencies, water districts, and others have been working hard to achieve voluntary agreements that would meet the requirements of the amendment set for adoption,” the letter states.  “Significantly, these agreements would obligate water rights holders to improve stream flows and restore habitat.  A short extension will allow these negotiations to progress and could result in a faster, less contentious and more durable outcome.”
