The California Water Efficiency Partnership (CalWEP) will explore the latest in research, technology and programs at their 2018 Peer‐to‐Peer event for water conservation professionals May 30‐31, 2018 in San Francisco. New to this year’s agenda is a water technologies showcase curated in partnership with Imagine H2O and the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator, where a handful of companies have been invited to pitch their products and offer case‐studies that demonstrate results.
“Unlike many water‐‐related professions such as engineering, there’s no degree in water conservation — it’s a niche area learned on the job,” said CalWEP Executive Director Mary Ann Dickinson. “That makes the training offered at Peer‐to‐Peer critical.”
This year’s conference will feature sessions for both seasoned and new water conservation professionals designed to help water providers anticipate and meet emerging state mandates for water conservation.
Some of the conference’s key topics include:
- The Water Conservation Framework—Impacts of legislative proposals for long‐term water conservation and how utilities can prepare, comply and measure success
- The Evolution of Landscape—How learning from past initiatives has helped keep customers engaged while generating real water savings
- The Water‐Energy Nexus—How water agencies have saved water with conservation programs and ways to change state policies to build recognition for these efforts
- Building Social Capital with Partnerships—How water providers can partner with community organizations to leverage resources and maximize results
“Peer‐to Peer creates opportunities for dynamic, interactive information exchanges for water conservation and efficiency professionals,” Dickinson added. “They explore on‐the‐job challenges with their peers and learn solutions that work.”
