From the State Water Resources Control Board:
Reservoir Stakeholder Workshop October 11
The first workshop for owners and operators of mercury-impaired reservoirs (see attached table) is scheduled for October 11, 2017, 2:00 – 4:30 pm in Big Bear Lake, California. We will be discussing 1) the reservoir water chemistry and fisheries management questionnaire that was distributed in June, and 2) the Statewide Mercury Control Program for Reservoirs draft staff report (draft agenda attached).
RSVP for the workshop by October 2: https://goo.gl/forms/B2GeTii7XkBi4wUm1
This workshop precedes the California Lake Management Society’s annual conference at the same location on October 12-13 (http://www.california-lakes.org/Conference-Information/calms-2017-conference). Registration for the CALMS Annual Conference is not required to attend this workshop.
Additional workshops will be held in northern California later in fall 2017; e-mail notices will be sent and the project website will be updated prior to those workshops.
Peer Review Documents – Statewide Mercury Control Program for Reservoirs
The draft Mercury Reservoir Provisions [regulatory language] and draft staff report submitted for scientific peer review are now posted on the website (link at bottom of this email). The formal title is Amendment to the Water Quality Control Plan for Inland Surface Waters, Enclosed Bays, and Estuaries of California — Mercury TMDL and Implementation Program for Reservoirs.
Please note that no written public comments will be accepted on these documents at this time. A formal notice will be provided to the public, likely in mid-2018 at the earliest, identifying the public review period along with release of documents for review and comments, including proposed Mercury Reservoir Provisions, Staff Report, and other relevant supporting documents.
The documents are available at: http://www.waterboards.ca.gov/water_issues/programs/mercury/reservoirs/
