ANNOUNCEMENT: Reclamation seeks comment on Shafter-Wasco Irrigation District’s Kern River water use

From the Bureau of Reclamation:

The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review a draft Environmental Assessment and draft Finding of No Significant Impact for the proposed introduction and conveyance of up to 5,000 acre-feet per year of Kern River water in the Friant-Kern Canal for use within Shafter-Wasco Irrigation District over a five-year period.

The draft EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and are available at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_projdetails.cfm?project_ID=29581. If you encounter problems accessing the documents, please call 916-978-5100 (TTY 800-877-8339) or email mppublicaffairs@usbr.gov.

Comments are due by close of business Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, to jllewis@usbr.gov. Written comments may also be mailed to Jennifer Lewis, Bureau of Reclamation, 1243 N Street, Fresno, CA 93721 or faxed to Lewis at 559-487-5504.
