NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) will hold a public workshop and receive public comments on the draft Drinking Water for Schools Grant Program Guidelines (Guidelines) and issued in accordance with Section 116276 of the Health and Safety Code.
The Drinking Water for Schools Program provides a new source of grant funding for schools that need to improve access to, or the quality of drinking water provided to their students and staff. Projects such as water bottle filling stations, which have been shown to increase water consumption by students; or filtration systems that remove harmful contaminants, would be eligible. In addition, the funding could be used for projects that help address lead contamination issues identified through the State Water Board’s new Lead Sampling of Drinking Water in Schools program. The Guidelines focus on prioritizing funding projects in schools that serve small, disadvantaged communities.
NOTICE IS ADDITIONALLY HEREBY GIVEN that State Water Board staff will conduct one public workshop. Interested parties may provide oral comments on the draft Guidelines at the workshops. Details of the public workshop are provided below.
