Last fall, voters approved Prop 1, the Water Quality, Supply, and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014, which authorized $7.545 billion in general obligation bonds to fund various water and ecosystem projects, including $2.7 billion for investments in the public benefits of water storage projects.

Through the Water Storage Investment Program, the California Water Commission is developing the process for quantifying the public benefits of water storage projects and establishing a competitive process to allocate those funds to eligible projects.

This week, the Commission will begin holding public meetings to present information on the program, including timelines, goals, objectives, principles, and future opportunities for public participation, as well as gather public comment on the progress made so far.  The meetings will be held from 5:30pm to 8:30pm on Monday, April 13th in Chico; Wednesday, April 15th in Fresno; and Monday, April 21st in Pleasant Hill.
