Yesterday, my work here at Maven’s Notebook was recognized with an “Award of Merit” from the organizers of the California Water Policy conference – a complete surprise and an incredible honor. I want to send out a big thank you to Debbi Dodson, Lynn Lipinksi, Doug Wallace, Tom Philp, and the rest of the committee for the award!
The organizers of the California Water Policy conference put on a great event this year. I especially appreciated that the organizers acknowledged the importance of including science in the California water policy discussion; there was a panel on integrating science and policy, and another on large scale ecosystem restoration that I attended. Most policy conferences don’t include science discussions, so kudos go to the organizers for being progressive and insightful. There were a lot of other interesting panels, too – I recorded a few that I couldn’t attend, so I have a lot of great things to cover in the upcoming weeks!
So in winning this award, I want to take the opportunity to acknowledge the Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment, who for the last two years have provided the biggest chunk of my funding. I truly couldn’t do what I do without their support.
And of course, I want to thank all of you, my readers, for I wouldn’t be here without you, either. It’s all of you showing up here every day that keeps me showing up here, too.
Warmest regards,
Maven
