From the Department of Water Resources CASGEM program:
“To meet requirements specified in the California Water Code, the Department of Water Resources (DWR) developed the CASGEM Basin Prioritization Process. In January, 2014, DWR published the draft results of the prioritization of California’s 515 groundwater basins and subbasins. The CASGEM Program also held five workshops throughout the State to discuss the basin prioritization process and the draft results. The CASGEM Program accepted public comments on the draft basin prioritization results. In finalizing the prioritization process and final rankings, the CASGEM Program took into consideration the comments received and the most recent available groundwater use data.
The final Basin Prioritization results are now available on the basin prioritization page of the CASGEM Program web site (http://www.water.ca.gov/groundwater/casgem/basin_prioritization.cfm ). The rankings are available on downloadable maps and tabular form. In addition, the individual Basin Summary Sheets for each basin and subbasin are accessible via the interactive map posted on the website. The final paper describing the Basin Prioritization Process and the CASGEM Groundwater Basin Prioritization Process brochure are being updated and will be posted soon on the CASGEM Basin Prioritization web page.
